Statement of Faith

The Bible:  We believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God and that it is the authority for salvation and the guide to Christian living. (2 Timothy. 3:16)

About God:  There is one God who has revealed Himself as our Father, in the Son and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh. (Deuteronomy. 6:4; 1 Timothy. 3:16)

Sin and Salvation:  We believe that all have sinned and all are in need of salvation. Salvation is by grace through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus. We believe that the bible teaches that salvation is by grace and not by works. It is by faith in Jesus that we are justified; and we believe that a sinner must believe and obey the gospel. We believe that a sinner must repent and be baptized in water in the Name of Jesus for the remission of sins and to be baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. (Acts. 4:12; 2:38; 10:43-48; 19:1-6)

The Gospels:  We believe that the gospels contain the good news that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. (Matthew. 28:1-6; Mark. 16:1-6; Luke. 24:1-6; John. 20:1-9)

Living the Christian life:  We believe that Christians are commanded to love God and others, we believe that God who is holy calls upon us to live holy livesand to worship Him. This holiness allows us to have a relationship with Him that will manifest itself in every aspect of our lives, which will include our families. We believe and support that the family is His ideal unit for mankind. (Matthew. 22:36-40; Leviticus. 11:45; 1 Peter. 1:16; Genesis. 1:26-28)

The Ministry:  We believe that the bible teaches us to "train up the body for the work of the ministry" and to release them into their ministry. (Ephesians. 4:11-12; Romans. 12:5-8). We believe that ministry should be by gifted and not by gender. (Judges. 4:4-14; Romans. 16:1; 1 Corintians. 1:11; Philippians. 4:2)

His second coming:  We believe that Jesus Christ will come back to take His church to be with Him for eternity. Then there will be the final judgement when the unrighteous will recieve eternal separation from the Lord. (1 Thessalonians. 4:16-17; Revelation. 20:11-15)

Where we came from

Living Waters Church Healesville carries the same name as Htee Moo Glow (Translated Living Waters) Church that Pastors David and Lyn Passmore founded in 1986 on a Burmese Karen refugee camp near the town of Mea Sod Thailand.

Pastor Hsa Ka Hsaw was the first pastor of this church, He and his wife Connie Zan pastored this church until they were moved to Sangkhlaburi  for safety reasons. They planted a church which they pastored until they moved to the USA as refugees.

Pastor Tha Guy Chit took over as pastor from pastor Hsa Ka Hsaw and Pastored the church on the refugee camp until he and his family were accepted as refugees by Norway.

The church on the camp is now pastored by Pastor Tee Khaung and his wife Wi Tu Paw, while pastor Ah Kyi pastors a church on the outskirts of Mae Sod. The church at Sangkhlaburi is pastored by Pastor Baw Gyee who is also the leader of Htee Moo Glow churches in Thailand and Myanmar, he has planted churches in villages on both sides of the Thai/Myanmar border, and conducts evangelical outreaches every christmas.

Pastor Paul Rich and his wife Leanne took over from David and Lyn in 1989 when David had heart problems, they finalised the setting up of a bible school, translation of hymns, choruses, teaching material and the reproduction of the Paw Karen Bible.

Leanne who is a trained nurse taught the people Hygiene, birth control, set up a special school and trained up staff for it, and trained Sunday school teachers. They remained with the work until 1998 when they returned home with the Karen son that they adopted.

Pastors David,Lyn, Paul and Leanne return to Thailand regulary to conduct training seminars, ordain pastors, elders and deacons.

The church in Healesville which was planted in 2007 is dedicated to reaching the townspeople and surrounding areas, and to the training up of the body for the ministry and releasing those trained up into their ministry.
